It's been a long Semester...

Well, I ended the Semester with a 3.88! YAY!!! Super happy that I got an A in both Public Speaking and Psychology 101! 

Just a quick update, seeing as I haven't written anything in a while on here.  I have drafts of future posts, but haven't quite had the time to finish them! Between school, the animals at home, and various other things, life gets busy!

Lets see... We celebrated our 1 year Anniversary of being married!! Where did the time go?!? 

We went to a wine tasting just south of Rochester, and had Sticky Lips for the first time (soooo much better than Dino BBQ!) We tried over 15 different types of wine, and managed to make it back that night for Alex to get to work.

Alex got his first pair of Oakley sunglasses, and boy does he look handsome! And finally going over a month without losing a pair of sunglasses... well worth the investment!

I went to EquiFest, a place where horse people get together, watch demonstrations, and can shop at numerous vendors.  There was an awesome demonstration given by Stage Coach West, where they do a western shootout on horseback, aiming at balloons, going full speed on horseback! Pretty impressive.

I finally got a new pair of glasses, (which are purple) and love the way they look! :)

I decided to weed out the side garden by the garage, put down some mulch, and voila! Garden.  Now, there's a bunch of mint growing, making it smell really nice, and a great addition to our cooking!

We opened the Historical Society Museum this year, and also had one of our Pot Luck dinners.  We had Jason Stienagle come in and talk about pre Civil War Slavery, which was amazing and very informative. Dressed in costume as a Plantation Owner, it was very realistic, and shows the dark truth of slavery.

During the semester, I wrote and produced a play! We did really well, and had very few mistakes during the performance.  This was a great ending to my semester, and has inspired me to look more at plays, and play writing.

Last Thursday, I threw a surprise birthday party for my Mom, YAY!! My uncle came in from out of town, and had other family members and friends come over for the surprise.  It was a lot of fun, and had some amazing left overs!

What else? We went to the Adirondacks this past weekend, staying in the same place we did last year, in Lake Placid.  We didn't climb another mountain, but decided to keep a campfire going, do some grilling, play pool, and go in the hot tub! Alex had a pretty intense game of chess, coming to a draw without losing any of the pieces on either side!

This weekend, we are finally going to enjoy a small (but much needed) honeymoon in Pawley's Island.  Oh, the beach awaits! Along with a lazy river, two pools, and hush puppies! Twin Lakes Restaurant is going to be our first stop for dinner! I CAN'T WAIT!!! T-Minus 15 hours! 

A Month's Worth!

Can you believe it has been one month YESTERDAY that I went back to school???

ME EITHER!!

There has been so much work! 

Working on essay #4 for English, 4th Journal for another class, and nightly math homework averaging about 50 questions a class!!

BUT....

100% on my first math test.

Everything else has been A's (and one B!) which I don't think is  bad for not being in school for a few years!!!

Let's introduce you to a bit of my school...

This is my Foundations classroom... Every room is equipped with a SmartBoard and 2 white boards (SmartBoards are awesome!)

Notice the "T" looking thing above the board? That's called a Tau Cross, and it's in every classroom to represent the school being a Franciscan College.  (Who's named after a nun from POLAND!)

Now that it's getting to look and feel like autumn, I can't help myself and take some gorgeous pictures of the trees!

This next one I took the other day... We were having a Peace Walk in honor of the Feast of St. Francis, walking from place to place all over campus and reading a prayer or short description of a working of St. Francis.  We were joined with the nuns from the Convent across the street, the original students of the college who started out in the convent next to the college.  (This event was optional to all students for those that were wondering...)

Another fun thing that the Student Government does for the students is for the bathrooms... and it's a brilliant idea!!!

As for non school related things, we've been pretty busy! 

Alex went to his partner Timmy's stag party a few weeks ago, and women were allowed to come at 7 to join in on the fun.  We were at a place called Castaways, and the sunset was eerily breathtaking...

Tim and Jamie's wedding is tomorrow! SO excited!!

Guess who started NURSERY SCHOOL!!!

That's right, Ariel!!

I got together with her after her first day and we went to a playground for some fun!

Her mom (my good friend Tasha) brought her over for a sleepover, and we had some fun! Ariel likes being a doctor with my stethoscope, and learned how to listen to breathing and a heartbeat, courtesy of Alex!

After Ariel went to bed, Tasha and I had some much needed girl time!

With October comes Ocktober Fest!!!

In Hamburg, they bring together local beer breweries and import German beer, and have a big adult festival! Alex and I went with some good friends from our former Fire Company.  I must say, my favorite drink wasn't beer that night, it was hard apple cider spice with cinnamon sticks! YUM!

WE FINALLY GOT SOME NEW WINDOWS!!!!

Finally.  Now we won't have to heat the outside this winter :)

We also got one for our upstairs bathroom, with frosted glass on the bottom so we don't have to close the curtains! It looks SO much better!

A Must in Today's Society

Related to my previous post on etiquette, I feel the need becomes stronger every day to create something for people in the area to learn manners.  I've been experiencing so many people at work and just in my running errands, that so many people are inconsiderate and rude.  Not many people think of others' feelings, just themselves.  It's always some rush to get around others at the grocery store, beat someone else into a parking space, cut off someone on the highway.  Where on earth are people with some sort of manners and understanding in this world? I'd love to create some sort of "Finishing School" or "Charm School" for the area.  I looked up the local Junior League, but that doesn't offer much other than more places to volunteer at.  I have only found one local Charm School, but I doubt many people know of it, or even have enough money to be accepted.  That's another problem in today's society: so many people are greedy.  I'd open something up that is small, personable, and cost effective.  {Why is everything so expensive nowadays?}  I feel as though I can incorporate this even into the local Historical Societies in the area.  That would be a fun aspect, have some sort of "Coming Out" thing for each.  Almost every girl I know likes getting dressed up and ready for some sort of celebration for themselves.  A Coming Out party, or Debutante Ball would be a fantastic thing to bring to this area.  Every girl I know of wants to go to a Grand Ball someday! That's what we grow up with: watching Disney movies like Cinderella, going to a big Ball, meeting people all dressed up in a beautiful dress, elaborate decorations and food.  Any ideas on how to start something like this? I suppose to start out with some sort of curriculum, and a business card would be a good bet.  What do you think people nowadays need to learn? Let me know! I've been reading my Emily Post's book, and doing a lot of research on it, I have an overload of information.  But, you can never have enough information!
